Hui Ye was born in Canton, China. She completed her studies in Composition and Electroacoustic Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna Digital Art and TransArts. In her work, Ye focuses on individual auditory perception phenomena, the diverse relationships between the audible and the visible, as well as on the transformation of auditory and visual elements. As a Chinese artist who has lived in Vienna for years, the question of how social identity can be shaped in different cultural and political contexts is also at the center of her artistic practice. Hui Ye has received several grants and prizes, including a state grant for composition from BKA Austria 2015 and Kunsthalle Wien Prize 2018. Her work is presented internationally.
