Franz Xaver

Franz Xaver, born in Linz in 1956, is an Austrian artist who studied “Visual Communication” at the Academy of Applied Arts. He then worked as an assistant to Prof. Weibel and taught computer languages, audiovisual productions, electronics and electrical engineering at the same academy until 1992. He was also a lecturer in “Communication Theory” at the Institute of Architecture at Graz University of Technology.

Franz Xaver has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including prestigious events such as Ars Electronica, the Aperto Biennale di Venezia, the Triennale in Milan and the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle in Bonn, Germany.

He works in the field of tension between art and technology and is particularly interested in disruptions and “glitches” in the fields of art, mathematics and physics. A social component is always part of his artistic work.
