velak goes lindabrunn @velak.klingt.org
This can certainly be described as a sensation in Austria: The 115th velak* gala (velak = association for electroacoustic music) is coming to the arena in Lindabrunn on August 15 with experimental music and sound art. Expect a feast for the ears open-air summer evening hosted by the Symposion Lindabrunn (VSL) association.
Young and old friends from the Viennese scene will be playing, including st.off, the Vienna Arp Ensemble and Julius Biswurm & Xavier Weydert with modular live sets. Klaus Filip shows an installation.
W~ARP
Frederic Stritter, Wolfgang Musil, (and more…)
Each member of the Vienna Arp Ensemble plays an ARP 2600 – the legendary analog synthesizer that also gave R2-D2 its voice. Their performances are improvisations that combine other sound objects (metal plates, tape machines or piano strings) with the synthesizers as an extension.
st.off
Sara Zlanabitnig, Thomas Grimm
st.off was formed in 2016 and has since gained a foothold in Vienna’s experimental music scene. Concerts at Künstlerhaus, Setzkasten, Der rote Ballon, Tresor (Linz), pmk (Innsbruck), Wow!Signal, smallforms, among others. A first collaboration with Gustavo Petek /smallforms resulted in a digital album release.
Julius Biswurm & Xavier Weydert
The dynamic duo from Germany and Luxembourg, both currently studying at Elak – Electroacoustic and Experimental Music – play a live set with modular synthesizers.
Woodpecker Conference
klaus filip
17 woodpeckers are invited to search for grubs and worms in the black pine forest just behind the symposion building in lindabrunn. Each woodpecker is given its own tree and a score to knock on. However, the individual woodpeckers interpret their score individually, following their own idea of time and not being disturbed by the fact that we are listening.
