lin. Symposium IV / Kunst & Ökologie
For the summer symposium, the grounds of Symposion Lindabrunn will become a stage on which visual art, literature, performance and science will enter into a dialog.
Over a period of two weeks, invited artists, performers and scientists will address the topic of networking and integrating art and ecology in a structured society. A stage play open to the public will be presented from July 16 to 17 and will be open to discussion. The summer symposium is curated by Elisabeth Falkinger in close cooperation with the Autorinnen*Stammtisch Wien.
“Ecology is not the science ‘out there’, but a personal experience.”
“The body is not metaphorical, but truly a part of the surrounding land. The land is the body. When people are deprived of the land, they are not only deprived of their physical foundation, but of their body.”
Margaret Kemarre Turner | Artist and Aborigine

Artist in Residence ! The existing often plays an important role in my work. Everything that surrounds me is material that I can change and re-contextualize using different methods. Found, borrowed and existing things become one.
Pain Studies / Schmerzstudien
Dariia Kuzmych
A series of drawings allows us to take a look at the adaptation to a foreign body. It replaces awkward formations that hinder movement and pull the whole body along. Do not look away.
Schafschlachtung
Clara Jacquemard
Sheep slaughter (Video 4k, 5-8min) Without religion, but with devotion is the relationship between butcher and lamb. From the pasture to the slaughterhouse, the paths have an impact and are never routine. A cut, a last roar, brutal touches of civilizational evolution.

Konfrontation, Konkurrenz, Kooperation: Zur wechselvollen Geschichte des Verhältnisses zwischen Kunst und Natur
Karin Raith
The debate as to whether art was superior to nature or vice versa was a recurring one. In particular, the interpretation of nature as something raw or pure, sinful or sacred, imperfect or exemplary determined the way in which people encountered it through the means of art.
