Günther Friesinger is a media artist, author, cultural manager, curator, producer and entrepreneur. He is managing director of the artists’ collective monochrom, founder and director of the paraflows Festival for Digital Art and Culture in Vienna, the cultural initiative KOMM.ST in Anger/Weiz and chairman of the Quartier for Digital Art and Culture in the Museumsquartier, Vienna.
He has been Chairman of IG Kultur Österreich since 2020. Friesinger teaches art, cultural management, production and exhibition dramaturgy at various universities in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, held a visiting professorship for digital curating at the University of Hildesheim in Germany from 2014 to 2015 and a professorship for digital culture at the American University in Cairo, Egypt, from 2017 to 2019.
In recent years, the focus has been on cultural regional development, vacancy activation and happiness research. Current films: Masking Threshold (2021), Avenues (2021).
