“For any person who wishes to transmit sounds over long distances through air, water, ice, metal, rock or any other acoustically conductive medium – using the sounds to reveal the acoustic properties of the spaces they pass through and communicate them to listeners over long distances.” Alvin Lucier – Quasimodo the Great Lover
The human voice has always overcome distances with calls. But these calls not only tell us about the person calling, they also tell us something about the path they have traveled. “through air, water, ice, …” I would like to add that they tell us something about time when they come to us from the past, they tell us something about our relationship to the calling being; are we related, are we strangers? They also tell us about social spaces and the technologies through which they are transmitted.
Manchmal rufen wir auch uns selbst zu, z.B. einsam in den Wald, oder zu einer (Fels-) Wand. Die Veränderung des Zurückkommenden erzählt uns etwas über das Dazwischen, über das uns Umgebende.
It is now possible to calculate millimeter-accurate models of a room using a sound that is recorded in a room via (at least 4) microphones.
The sound itself may not be irrelevant, but it is of secondary importance.
Inspired by the expansive and multi-layered terrain of the Skulturenpark Lindabrunn, I have invited artists to explore it as a sound space. The works examine different types of distance: local / geographical, temporal and those that arise and can be overcome through otherness.

kammerwellenmusik
Veronika Mayer, Oliver Stotz, C. Hausch, (and more…)
4 laptop musicians receive the entire radio frequency range of a receiver not far away in Markt Allhau. signals from all over the world are captured from 0 Khz to 30 Mhz (long wave, medium wave, short wave).
Talk – Ulrike Truger & Elisabeth Schimana
Ulrike Truger, Elisabeth Schimana
“I think in stone.” This self-description characterizes the sculptor, whose works are always explicitly located in political discourse. “The Guardian”, the ‘Omofuma Stone’ or, most recently, the monumental work entitled ‘How Dare You’ – an exclamation mark made of white Carrara marble – make this unmistakably clear.
Monolith
Elisabeth Schimana
A play about stones that were once living creatures, mountains that were once seas. “And it all began millions of years ago, when the ocean, the Tethys, washed sand into the shells of the ammonites, turning them to stone and creating the Alpidic chains.
Short films program
Billy Roisz, Sigi Frühauf, Mutt/Mayr, (and more…)
“Quarantine carousell” – Billy Roisz “Distance Film 1” – Sigi Frühauf “Frühling in Isolation” – Mutt/Mayr “Evolving Narrative” – Norbert Math “Thoughts on screen” – Clara Abi Nader
T.E. “auf Festland” – subsistentiale Erkundungen
Elisabeth Falkinger, Olha Senynets
At the opening of the 2nd festival weekend, Elisabeth Falkinger will accompany visitors from Enzesfeld station to the symposium site with her Ukrainian tractor and singer Olha Senynets.
Psychophysics Forest
Kathrin Hochschuh, Adam Donovan
Hochschuh and Donovan create sophisticated robotic machines that play with uncanny systems inherent to our perception. Their works and machines evoke an otherness or timelessness that is only present in the here and now.
saLeh roZati – DJ set

“it will be an inner journey through oriental sounds to distant explorations, deeper and deeper quite distant that it is and will be very close” saLeh
Chambers
Alvin Lucier, Susanna Gartmayer, noid, (and more…)
“Sounds of portable resonance chambers, the sounds of shells or cupped hands, for example, can be carried outside, out onto streets and fields, into parks and university campuses, through buildings and living rooms, until an outer boundary is reached where a player is just within earshot of at least one other player. […]” (from Lucier: “Chambers” – score)
LOVE – 64 calls of a nightingale transcribed for violoncello @ 10% speed
noid
The composition “LOVE” attempts to create a cross-species understanding with the help of deceleration. The nightingale’s song, which is far too fast – and therefore impossible for the human ear to resolve – was stretched to ten times its original length, transcribed and this score interpreted on a cello.
Talk – Hochschuh & Donovan
Kathrin Hochschuh, Adam Donovan
Talk – Digitaltechnik und Anwendungen im Kurzwellenfunk
Rainer Fritz
Rainer Fritz is part of the group
Metafunk, which has been operating a transmitter/receiver station on the VSL premises for years.
Erkundungen
Thomas Berghammer, Susanna Gartmayer, (and more…)
With the Ensemble Sonderfall, five contemporary composers will gather at the location for a week to develop their own pieces for the location: situations, interventions, sequences or commentaries, in any case acoustic explorations, which will be presented during the last day of the festival.
INSTALLATIONEN:
Hui Ye
T. E. – mit dem Traktor von Theresiental (Ukraine) nach Oberösterreich
Elisabeth Falkinger
When Elisabeth Falkinger traveled to the Theresia Valley in Ukraine in 2013, she fell in love with an old, red tractor. She decided to drive back with it. The travel diary she kept during the three-month trip became her dissertation. Photos show the unlikely couple bathing; the text refers to “T.” and “E.” – instead of “Traktor” and “Elisabeth”.
Annäherungen – eine Intervention in der Wiese
Christine Schörkhuber
Site-specific installation, oral history, 2020 This interview-based work explores the stories of people who have a passionate connection to the grounds of the Lindabrunn Symposium. Their positions become the starting point for an outdoor installation that takes a subtle and personal approach to this multi-layered place with its different perspectives and levels of meaning.
LOVE – 64 mating calls of a nightingale transcribed for violoncello @ 10% speed, recorded & pitched back to the original bird-speed.
noid
Sound installation based on the composition: “LOVE – 64 Calls of a nightingale transcribed for Violoncello @ 10% speed.” The recording of the performance from May 4, 2014, created as part of the New Music in St. Ruprecht series, will be reset to the original speed and pitch of the original Nachtigall recording.
Versuchsanordnung zur Überwindung mittlerer Entfernungen
noid
Since March 2020, the question of appropriate distance in interpersonal contact has become unexpectedly explosive; until then, the question was more a topic of small talk along the North/South axis and suddenly gained epedemological significance and relevance in the negotiation on the assessment of the risk of infection.
