With “Evolution Revolution”, a first monograph is published that illuminates Matthias Mollner’s artistic work with great attention to detail.

Matthias Mollner is a rebel who deals with the hidden and repressed in his works in order to generate expanded ways of being. His work focuses on the creature, the inner being that is neither human nor animal, but everything at the same time. Accordingly, the visual artist works with animals such as earthworms or pigs and uses his own body as a material and amplifier of expression. Using humor as a weapon in the fight against carelessness, Mollner rebels against the destructive, world-destroying systems of the present. His art is shown in different places, often in public spaces. Various media such as performance, sculpture, photography, images, video and sound are linked into a non-hierarchical network. With his performance sculptures, the artist creates spaces of experience; his works refuse classic genre designations. Matthias Mollner is an adventurer who moves through the cave systems of human existence in a constant search for new things. The richly illustrated monograph provides a comprehensive overview of the artist’s artistic work over the last 12 years. In addition to the illustrations, the book contains project concepts and texts from several authors who interpret Mollner’s densely woven work from an art historical, philosophical and literary perspective.
