Leonie Spitzer

Leonie Spitzer has studied visual arts and theater studies at the IUAV in Venice and graduated with distinction (thesis on Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky, social architecture and interior design). Her video work Interculturalism: Did you ever think what language to use if you met Dante in Hell? of the Final Art Lab, directed by professor and curator Nicolas Bourriaud, was exhibited in 2008 at the Magazzini del Sale, in Venice.

She studied interior design at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London.

Since her return to Vienna in 2013, Leonie Spitzer has worked as an interior designer, designing well-known interiors such as the bistro “das Liebling”, the clothing store “useabrand” and “Burggasse 24” as well as the “Bildwerkstatt Herr Leutner”. As well as exhibition spaces such as “Wendy Pferd Tod Mexico oder WAS WILLST DU SEHEN?” at the Literaturhaus Wien in 2023 about the collaboration and works by Maia Osojnik, Matija Schellander and Natascha Gangl and the same in 2022 “Encore! A space for Unica Zürn” at the FÜNFZIGZWANZIG gallery in Salzburg.

2023 She staged Dyonapolis II at the Teatrino piccolo, Palazzo Grassi in Venice.

2022 KYBERNETIKON – Crossroads premiered at Casa Punto Croce, Venice.

2021 she presents Dynapolis – augmented Reality, An invitation to an aural tour as part of Wien Modern on the occasion of the generation change at echoraum.

2020 she created the video In DisTANZ – the distance in which interaction took place in the Margarete Schütte Lihotzky Raum.

In 2019 she presented the video Records on uncharted Terrain- an artistic dialogue in the Improper Walls Gallery as part of Question Me and Answer.
