monochrom is an internationally active media art-technology-philosophy collective with a studio in Vienna’s Museumsquartier and an exhibition space in Unterzögersdorf. Since its foundation in 1993, monochrom has been working with a wide variety of media and art formats in search of the right medium for the right project.
monochrom’s trademark is its experimental approach to art and technology. monochrom are known for their unconventional projects and actions, which are often humorous but always intelligent. The group combines art, science and pop culture in an innovative way and has gained a reputation as a pioneer in the field of media art. This is evidenced by their participation in exhibitions at the Venice and Sao Paulo Biennials, their participation in international film festivals and their participation in Austrian festivals such as steirischer herbst and Ars Electronica.
