Technical support: Kurt Weckel and Günter Miklenic.\nThe exhibition features two early site-specific works by Pia Mayrwöger\, created in 2016 and 2017 on the grounds of the Lindabrunn Symposium. In both interventions\, the artist engaged intensively with the site’s spatial\, landscape\, and material conditions. Her interventions do not dominate the space\, but rather explore it attentively\, giving rise to striking connections between artistic practice and the surroundings. \nIn the form of a documentary presentation\, the works are now returning to the place where they were created. The exhibition offers a chance to rediscover works that already reveal the unique sensitivity and consistency of Pia Mayrwöger’s artistic approach. At the same time\, it highlights the Symposium grounds as a place that\, for many years\, has repeatedly served as a starting point for experimental artistic processes and shared experiences. \nPia Mayrwöger (b. 1986\, Kefermarkt; d. 2025) studied Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz. As a freelance artist\, she explored the themes of labor\, production processes\, and the relationship between humans and machines. Her artistic practice encompassed temporary interventions in public spaces\, object and spatial installations\, as well as photography and video. By intervening in everyday objects\, technical devices\, and spaces\, she altered their perception\, function\, and meaning. \nThis work was created in 2016 as part of the “Somewhere to Disappear” project\, a ten-day workshop organized by the Department of Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz.  Intervention 2016\, video\, 14 h 21 min\nUsing a Caterpillar mini-excavator\, Pia Mayrwöger digs a pit\, from which she then frees herself. Barefoot and wearing an ankle-length red dress\, she climbs into the excavator and starts it up. She loosens a patch of soil roughly the size of the machine’s footprint\, piles the material behind the machine\, and drives into the resulting depression. There\, she turns the excavator around and repeats the process. \nStep by step\, the machine works its way deeper into the ground until the hydraulic arm reaches its maximum range of motion. The excavator’s technical capabilities determine the end point of the operation. Intervention 2017\, photographic work\n“White Space” was created through a temporary intervention in a small wooded area on the Symposion grounds. Pia Mayrwöger sprayed a selected area with lime\, thereby temporarily altering its appearance. The white color clearly sets the area apart from its natural surroundings and creates a distinct\, almost enclosed zone within the forest. \nThe intervention alters not so much the physical structure of the site as its perception. Familiar plants\, ground features\, and spatial boundaries appear rearranged within the white space and removed from their usual surroundings. And the tone of avant-garde pop has steadily grown darker and more serious. Theresa Stroetges\, aka Golden Diskó Ship\, offers an alternative to this trend. Her music is rich\, colorful\, and full of melodies. Stroetges loves intricate vocal harmonies that soar to the highest heights. Where many others shy away from opulence and melodic complexity\, she brings precisely these qualities to the forefront. The consistently positive vibe of her driving\, ultra-pop sound is incredibly infectious. At the same time\, it serves as a coping strategy for the artist amid the multifaceted crisis of our present. In her live sets\, Golden Diskó Ship presents a bubbling mixture of Krautrock\, cinematic club music\, ’80s pop\, and disco (sic!). Clever rhythms and sophisticated arrangements are slipped into the audience’s experience with a smile. With lightning-fast transitions\, the multi-instrumentalist switches between guitar\, viola\, percussion\, and plenty of electronics. Top-notch entertainment for fans of unconventional and danceable pop music. With her live videos\, media artist Paula Reissig expands the music program to include interactive visuals. Reissig has developed a remix game based on Golden Diskó Ship’s tracks that can be played for free in a browser. Musical elements are assigned to visual objects that can be remixed by the audience without any prior musical knowledge. The artist and the audience swap roles\, and a finished piece of music is reimagined collaboratively. At Fazit 26\, she is exhibiting her new stone sculptures for the first time\, as well as works combining stone and paper—including pieces that incorporate yarn.\nThe artist’s working method is intuitive and process-oriented\, leading to a dialogue with the emerging work.\nThe process of creating a work is based on a complex and multifaceted body of knowledge that exists beyond language and seeks to touch the audience emotionally. \n  \nVeronika Mayer\, Elisabeth Wildling: The Imperceptible \nPerception is an active\, formative process. It selects\, condenses and creates reality. A site-sensitive artistic practice unfolds from everyday life together – in observing\, listening and visualizing – that responds to the situation rather than depicting it. This attitude characterizes the week-long collaboration between two artists in residence and is based on presence\, repetition and lingering. \nMacro shots open our eyes to the imperceptible – to transitions and subtle shifts in light\, sound and materiality. Situationally used materials act as mediating filters that structure traces of light and shadow as well as tonal particles. \nThe resulting installation follows a relational understanding of sensory orientation: as an ongoing process of active awareness\, in which heterogeneous environments\, experience and artistic setting resonate and respond to one another. \nExperimental Architecture\nRobert Faul: Workshop \nRobert Faul’s diploma project focuses on transforming a space previously used as a tool shed into a studio and workspace. \nThe goal is to expand the existing space in such a way that a high-quality workspace is created that is suitable for creative\, theoretical\, and practical activities\, while maintaining the necessary storage function. In doing so\, existing materials will be reused and recycled materials incorporated. The result will be a two-story workshop\, with the lower level providing workspace for wood and metal work\, while the upper level will house a 3D printing area\, an electrical workshop\, and Metafunk’s radio station. By combining two shipping containers with a wooden and steel extension\, the space is expanded\, creating two functionally distinct workspaces with a view of the adjacent quarry. \nThe formal exterior design complements the overall appearance and\, through thoughtful details\, responds directly to the conditions dictated by nature and the existing structure. The textile façade of the upper section displays an image of the spectrogram of the amateur radio station’s signal\, thus forming a coherent integration of the material and immaterial exterior envelope. \nAs part of this process\, design and implementation are linked within a continuous learning process. Architecture is understood as an ongoing process\, as a tool for perception and dialogue. The project thus becomes a practical and theoretical experiment exploring how minimal interventions can provide impetus for cultural\, spatial\, and ecological development.
