SUMMARY:In CUBO : Sheri Avraham
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition at Cubo: Sheri Avraham – 70 Faces of the Torah \nIn the age of social media\, we continuously inscribe ourselves through curated feeds\, stories and highlights. These digital traces become a contemporary sacred scroll\, a living archive through which we seek recognition\, belonging and knowledge. Our online selves\, both self-designed and externally imposed\, function as a modern ritual of interpretation and belief. Within this space of multiplicity\, contradiction and intersectionality\, identity unfolds as performance and negotiation. \nThis work is part of the larger project “Mizrachi Futurism” and is a continuation of research that began during Sheri’s production residency at Symposion Lindabrunn in 2025. \n“Mizrachi Futurism” is a speculative aesthetic rooted in the identity category of Mizrachim: Jews with familial ties to non-Western countries. Inspired by Afrofuturism\, it functions as a cultural-political practice that creates insurgent visions of the future based on Mizrachi histories\, diasporic knowledge\, hybridity and anti-colonial critique in art\, theory and performance. From a Mizrachi and queer perspective\, this project reflects on fragmented identity\, visibility and belonging. \n70 Faces of the Torah presents identity as infinitely interpretable. Referring to the midrashic phrase “The Torah has seventy faces”\, the work suggests that identity\, like sacred texts\, is never unambiguous or fixed\, but fluid\, multi-layered and open to infinite interpretation. \n

SUMMARY:Production stay Art University Linz
DESCRIPTION:The excursion of Chris Janka’s experimental sound laboratory at the Department of Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz to the Symposion Lindabrunn focuses on sound experiments\, installations and improvisations. The curriculum for experimental art is an artistic laboratory for creative freedom. This freedom is often hard to find\, but the excursion framework to the VSL offers it and makes it possible to implement and develop new concepts.

SUMMARY:In CUBO : Camille Dedenise
DESCRIPTION:NATURALISM glitch THEATRUM is a site-specific installation conceived for and produced at Lindabrunn. The installation questions naturalism not as nature itself\, but as an epistemological system: a Western fabulation\,\nin Philippe Descola’s terms\, that separated humans from the living world. The theatre is a metaphor of naturalism as a fabulation\, a constructed scene\, in which the apparatus blurs with the landscape. The ecological disaster becomes a broken glitch\, a signal that exists by failing. The work extends through a webpage translating Lindabrunn’s real-time weather data into generative visual forms for the duration of the exhibition. \n

SUMMARY:Relaunch Hörzelle- Midissage Cubo
DESCRIPTION:The time has come; the “Hörzelle” is being refilled!\nAnd the exhibition in the Cubo by Camille Dedenise can still be seen for 2 weeks! \nNew at Hörzelle: \nblablabor (annette schmucki and reto friedmann) \nfm-alarm-clock-radio-g641-t302-j \nEvery radio sounds different: The Grundig Concert Boy 240 impresses with its clear sound\, while the reception of the Stern Dynamic 2030 is harsh and susceptible to interference. Blablabor has built up its own relationship with each of the more than one hundred portable radios it has collected. Like us\, the devices are getting older and frailer – the Philips Limbo DeLuxe 90R1412 is missing the antenna tip and the battery compartment cover. For “FM Alarm Clock Radio G641 T302 J”\, Blablabor used the sounds and characteristics of their radio collection. The play was nominated for the Berlin Radio Play Festival 2025. \nSashe Urdovski: Singing wire\nEarly on\, historical users of the electric telegraph described its lines as “singing wires”: wind\, electrical impulses or resonances created audible tones and rhythms with a musical quality. The telephone booth becomes a listening room for a material\, independently vibrating form of communication. The piece is inspired by Alvin Lucier’s work “Music on a Long Thin Wire”\, in which a signal generates vibrations in a taut wire. The composition was created in the Experimental Soundlab at the University of Art and Design. \nChristina Gruber: Thirsty Datacenter (Lindabrunn Edit)\nOur daily lives are based on interactions. And increasingly online. “Thirsty Datacenter” leads to different production sites and landing points of the cloud. Water is essential in the development process of these global server networks. On the one hand\, water is used to cool the data centers\, but also to transmit our data. What happens when digital water re-enters the water cycle? Are endless streaming evenings also causing real changes to our atmosphere? This audio piece goes in search of the infrastructures of the cloud. \nHollis Taylor\, Claire Edwards: Owen Springs Reserve\nThis piece is based on a nocturnal song recording of the Australian Black-throated Slaughterbird\, recorded in 2014 near Alice Springs. In her work\, composer\, violinist and ornithologist Hollis Taylor explores the musical qualities of birdsongs and their translation into human music. It is played and interpreted here by the well-known Australian percussionist Claire Edwards on the vibraphone. \nMarie Lampropoulus: Zwischen den Gräsern\nMarie Lampropoulus studied Biology on the University Vienna\, Ecology\, with focus on Vegetationecology\, Naturer- and Landscapeprotection She wrote her diploma thesis on the grasshopper population at the Lindabrunn Symposium site and is an excellent expert on this habitat. In this audio piece\, she provides insights into the fascinating world of the polyphonic orchestra of these creatures that can be heard here every day. \n

As saltwater bivalve molluscs\, they transform pain within their soft bodies into luminous pearls over time. This journey offers a fluid moment to “think-with” the world around us: how might we feel our way through the conditions of our time? Inspired by queer Palestinian poet Rasha Abdulhadi’s Your Oysters\, we invite you to a program that brings together artists in residency joined by scientists\, scholars and thinkers. Set amidst legacies and dialogues of art within the biodiversity of Symposium Lindabrunn\, this gathering activates art through a multispecies perspective. Embracing decolonial and feminist methods\, we immerse ourselves in the natural world and engage with digital tools\, echoing indigenous genealogies to open portals between worlds. Join us at Symposium Lindabrunn for a soft landing of learning\, togetherness and shared reflections. \nCurated by Mekhala Dave\nSupported by Valentina Gruber

SUMMARY:Nature Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Together with the community of Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn\, the landscape conservation association Thermenlinie-Wienerwald-Wiener Becken and the LEADER region Triestingtal\, laypeople\, experts and nature educators\, we are exploring the biodiversity at the symposium in Lindabrunn – one of the largest contiguous dry grassland areas on the Thermenlinie – with the help of the international nature research app iNaturalist. \nThe Nature Challenge is a diverse celebration of biodiversity for young and old nature explorers and those who would like to try it out. There are nature tours\, information stands\, competitions and activities for children and young people. \nFrom an artistic perspective\, the Symposion Lindabrunn association is participating with performative and installation-based contributions. During the successful first Nature Challenge in June 2024\, more than 4\,800 observations of almost 1\,300 species were documented at the site. SUMMARY:shared_care_artist_camp
DESCRIPTION:The shared_care_artist_camp offers artists with care responsibilities the opportunity to spend time working with their families. Under the aegis of Stefanie Wuschitz\, free space and time for work and family is created during the summer vacation. The on-site infrastructure enables artists to exchange ideas with other artists in a contemporary discursive environment – about professional as well as family-related issues – and to work on their own projects. Symposion Lindabrunn is an ideal environment for family-inclusive stays with its extensive natural area and the possibility to camp and move around outdoors. A shared childcare person will be hired by the Shared Care project team to provide half-day care and children’s programs during the residency. The second half of the day will be organized by the participating artists either in the form of joint activities with the children or as shared care time. The participating artists can offer group workshops for young and old in the afternoons. At the weekend\, the doors to the studios are open and the artists present themselves and their work as part of a salon in the countryside. The selection and invitation is made by the Shared Care project team.

SUMMARY:Salon im Grünen - Shared Care Artist Camp
DESCRIPTION:with Stefanie Wuschitz\, Mir* Raggam-Alji\, Korinna Lindinger und Carla Bobadilla\n\nOver the course of a week\, a group of young and older artists worked together and reflected at the symposium on kites\, stones\, parenthood\, the life of an artist\, and how to balance it all “in real life.” This time\, the Salon im Grünen invites you to experience the resulting artistic experiments and to discuss the epic and breathtakingly exhausting aspects of unpaid care work—almost entirely free of artificial intelligence.

SUMMARY:At CUBO: Pia Mayrwöger - HERE
DESCRIPTION:HERE
 – Resonances of a Place \nOpening: 24.08. 17:00 17:00 \nwith an introduction by Tamina Schönböck \nThe work was created in 2017 as part of the “Loose Harbour” project\, a summer program featuring invited artists and students from the University of Art and Design Linz. Concept and organization: Leo Schatzl. Technical support: Kurt Weckel and Günter Miklenic.\nThe exhibition features two early site-specific works by Pia Mayrwöger\, created in 2016 and 2017 on the grounds of the Lindabrunn Symposium. In both interventions\, the artist engaged intensively with the site’s spatial\, landscape\, and material conditions. Her interventions do not dominate the space\, but rather explore it attentively\, giving rise to striking connections between artistic practice and the surroundings. \nIn the form of a documentary presentation\, the works are now returning to the place where they were created. The exhibition offers a chance to rediscover works that already reveal the unique sensitivity and consistency of Pia Mayrwöger’s artistic approach. At the same time\, it highlights the Symposium grounds as a place that\, for many years\, has repeatedly served as a starting point for experimental artistic processes and shared experiences. \nPia Mayrwöger (b. 1986\, Kefermarkt; d. 2025) studied Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz. As a freelance artist\, she explored the themes of labor\, production processes\, and the relationship between humans and machines. Her artistic practice encompassed temporary interventions in public spaces\, object and spatial installations\, as well as photography and video. By intervening in everyday objects\, technical devices\, and spaces\, she altered their perception\, function\, and meaning. \nThis work was created in 2016 as part of the “Somewhere to Disappear” project\, a ten-day workshop organized by the Department of Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz. Concept and direction: Leo Schatzl\, in collaboration with Miriam Bajtala and Susi Jirkuff. Technical support: Kurt Weckel and Günter Miklenic.\nCAT 302.4D*
Intervention 2016\, video\, 14 h 21 min\nUsing a Caterpillar mini-excavator\, Pia Mayrwöger digs a pit\, from which she then frees herself. Barefoot and wearing an ankle-length red dress\, she climbs into the excavator and starts it up. She loosens a patch of soil roughly the size of the machine’s footprint\, piles the material behind the machine\, and drives into the resulting depression. There\, she turns the excavator around and repeats the process. \nStep by step\, the machine works its way deeper into the ground until the hydraulic arm reaches its maximum range of motion. The excavator’s technical capabilities determine the end point of the operation. Mayrwöger then reverses the process and digs himself and the machine out of the pit again. \nIn the video itself\, the long duration and repetitive structure of the process become an integral part of the work.\n(*) This work was created in 2016 as part of the “Somewhere to Disappear” project\, a ten-day workshop organized by the Department of Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz. Concept and direction: Leo Schatzl\, in collaboration with Miriam Bajtala and Susi Jirkuff. Technical support: Kurt Weckel and Günter Miklenic. \nThe work was created in 2017 as part of the “Loose Harbour” project\, a summer program featuring invited artists and students from the University of Art and Design Linz. Concept and organization: Leo Schatzl. Technical support: Kurt Weckel and Günter Miklenic.\n  \nWHITE SPACE*
Intervention 2017\, photographic work\n“White Space” was created through a temporary intervention in a small wooded area on the Symposion grounds. Pia Mayrwöger sprayed a selected area with lime\, thereby temporarily altering its appearance. The white color clearly sets the area apart from its natural surroundings and creates a distinct\, almost enclosed zone within the forest. \nThe intervention alters not so much the physical structure of the site as its perception. Familiar plants\, ground features\, and spatial boundaries appear rearranged within the white space and removed from their usual surroundings. The photographic work transforms this ephemeral state into an independent visual form.\n(*) This work was created in 2017 as part of the “Loose Harbour” project\, a summer program featuring invited artists and students from the University of Art and Design Linz. And the tone of avant-garde pop has steadily grown darker and more serious. Theresa Stroetges\, aka Golden Diskó Ship\, offers an alternative to this trend. Her music is rich\, colorful\, and full of melodies. Stroetges loves intricate vocal harmonies that soar to the highest heights. Where many others shy away from opulence and melodic complexity\, she brings precisely these qualities to the forefront. The consistently positive vibe of her driving\, ultra-pop sound is incredibly infectious. At the same time\, it serves as a coping strategy for the artist amid the multifaceted crisis of our present. In her live sets\, Golden Diskó Ship presents a bubbling mixture of Krautrock\, cinematic club music\, ’80s pop\, and disco (sic!). Clever rhythms and sophisticated arrangements are slipped into the audience’s experience with a smile. With lightning-fast transitions\, the multi-instrumentalist switches between guitar\, viola\, percussion\, and plenty of electronics. Top-notch entertainment for fans of unconventional and danceable pop music. With her live videos\, media artist Paula Reissig expands the music program to include interactive visuals. Reissig has developed a remix game based on Golden Diskó Ship’s tracks that can be played for free in a browser. Musical elements are assigned to visual objects that can be remixed by the audience without any prior musical knowledge. The artist and the audience swap roles\, and a finished piece of music is reimagined collaboratively. At the concerts\, Paula Reissig will present the remix game live during the show and let the audience try it out in a workshop afterward. \n* With the kind support of \n \nValentina Gruber: Zwischen Krisen und Wiesen\, 2026\nFotoprint\, Vinyl \nI want to bathe in the sand and climb onto the meadow\,\nI want to unload the stars and shatter the sun\,\nI want to keep walking and pause forever\,\nI want to set out into all the vastness and fold myself into myself\,\nI want to see in salt water and dance in the lake\,\nI want to walk through caves and plant stones\,\nI want to be free and all alone\,\nI want to be with you and yours forever\,\nwants to sweat in the snow and freeze to death on the beach\,\nwants to own mountain peaks and rule over valleys\,\nwants to know all of you and no one at all\,\nuntil I fall and our paths part. \nRosa Jansohn Ditz – Works on Paper \nRosa has been working at one of the stone-carving stations at the Lindabrunn Symposium for the past two years. At Fazit 26\, she is exhibiting her new stone sculptures for the first time\, as well as works combining stone and paper—including pieces that incorporate yarn.\nThe artist’s working method is intuitive and process-oriented\, leading to a dialogue with the emerging work.\nThe process of creating a work is based on a complex and multifaceted body of knowledge that exists beyond language and seeks to touch the audience emotionally. \n  \nVeronika Mayer\, Elisabeth Wildling: The Imperceptible \nPerception is an active\, formative process. It selects\, condenses and creates reality. A site-sensitive artistic practice unfolds from everyday life together – in observing\, listening and visualizing – that responds to the situation rather than depicting it. This attitude characterizes the week-long collaboration between two artists in residence and is based on presence\, repetition and lingering. \nMacro shots open our eyes to the imperceptible – to transitions and subtle shifts in light\, sound and materiality. Situationally used materials act as mediating filters that structure traces of light and shadow as well as tonal particles. \nThe resulting installation follows a relational understanding of sensory orientation: as an ongoing process of active awareness\, in which heterogeneous environments\, experience and artistic setting resonate and respond to one another. \nExperimental Architecture\nRobert Faul: Workshop \nRobert Faul’s diploma project focuses on transforming a space previously used as a tool shed into a studio and workspace. \nThe goal is to expand the existing space in such a way that a high-quality workspace is created that is suitable for creative\, theoretical\, and practical activities\, while maintaining the necessary storage function. In doing so\, existing materials will be reused and recycled materials incorporated. The result will be a two-story workshop\, with the lower level providing workspace for wood and metal work\, while the upper level will house a 3D printing area\, an electrical workshop\, and Metafunk’s radio station. By combining two shipping containers with a wooden and steel extension\, the space is expanded\, creating two functionally distinct workspaces with a view of the adjacent quarry. \nThe formal exterior design complements the overall appearance and\, through thoughtful details\, responds directly to the conditions dictated by nature and the existing structure. The textile façade of the upper section displays an image of the spectrogram of the amateur radio station’s signal\, thus forming a coherent integration of the material and immaterial exterior envelope. \nAs part of this process\, design and implementation are linked within a continuous learning process. Architecture is understood as an ongoing process\, as a tool for perception and dialogue. The project thus becomes a practical and theoretical experiment exploring how minimal interventions can provide impetus for cultural\, spatial\, and ecological development. The design of a studio is viewed here not as an end in itself\, but as a means of exploring an idea: that small\, precisely targeted interventions can generate resonance—in space\, in thought\, and within the community. \n  \n
