SUMMARY:Im CUBO : Claudia Rohrauer
DESCRIPTION:Analogue Fieldwork\nThe installation at CUBO provides an insight into an artistic and research-based exploration of the potential and possibilities of sustainable analog darkroom practice and plant-based developers as an alternative to conventional photographic chemicals. The central starting point is the property of plants to act as a developer substance through the phenols and polyphenols they contain and to be able to reduce silver salts to metallic silver. The resources\, materials and materiality of image production are up for debate.\nThe environment and surroundings in Lindabrunn become accomplices and co-producers of photographic image production; as an artist\, I hand over control of the processes to plants\, weather\, light\, temperature and\, last but not least\, to chance\, which may bring about chemical reactions between the light-sensitive photographic material such as film and paper and the plant phenols that cannot be calculated in advance. What is depicted and what is depicted grow together in the picture plane. Process documentation and final results meet on an equal level. \nwebsite: http://www.claudiarohrauer.info \n  \n

SUMMARY:Im CUBO : Karin Frank
DESCRIPTION:The two wooden sculptures\, which focus on the physical work involved in stone carving\, were created during the “50 Years of Lindabrunn Symposium” in 2019 in the area where the Cubo now stands\, and are now being exhibited publicly for the first time in a long time.\nThe artist Karin Frank works almost exclusively in wood and paints her sculptures. They are mostly figurative\, realistic\, but never hyperrealistic. Frank is known for her ability to depict movement in static sculptures. The toy-like appearance of the sculptural works only appears to contradict their unvarnished content. Many of the more than 200 sculptures of all sizes created in this way can be found in private and public collections\, mainly in German-speaking countries. In 2005\, she received the State Scholarship for Fine Arts. \nTranslated with DeepL.com (free version) \nhttps://www.karinfrank.at/ \nKarin Frank\nFuturologisches Symposium\nBildhauer \n

SUMMARY:Symposion 20 Years of Buried Alive
DESCRIPTION:20 Jahre „Buried Alive“ – Anniversary of monochrom’s legendary Performance-Projekt\n\nTwenty years ago\, the art collective monochrom literally dug itself into the collective memory: for the performance “Buried Alive\,” it invited over 800 people worldwide to be buried alive since 2005 – a radical experiment between borderline experience\, ritual\, and media criticism.\n\nIn 2025\, the project will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Reason enough to put this spectacular\, much-discussed work back in the spotlight. \n“Buried Alive” is more than a test of courage. The performance addresses both the fascination with and fear of death\, as well as the need to reenact historical burial rituals. In a specially constructed safety coffin\, the audience is buried alive—voluntarily and individually. What appears to be a macabre thrill turns out to be an artistic investigation: Where does entertainment end and existential reflection begin? How are media images of danger and extreme sports transformed into art? \nWith “Buried Alive\,” the Viennese collective monochrom\, internationally known since the 1990s for its mixture of media art\, theory\, and subversion\, makes it clear that performance art does not only take place on stage\, but in the body\, in the mind\, and in social discourse. \n2025 is the year: 20 years of Buried Alive. We will celebrate this milestone birthday where the project has found a permanent home since 2013: at the Lindabrunn Symposium\, where monochrom operates a permanent installation—for all those who don’t want to wait until life takes them underground. \nOn September 20 and 21\, 2025\, the collective invites you to the “20 Years of Buried Alive Symposium”: two days full of lectures\, music\, re-performances\, and discourse burials. Expect critical theory\, eerie nostalgia\, and the opportunity to lie down for a trial run. \n“Buried Alive” was never just a macabre joke. It is an invitation to reflect on fear\, desire\, media hysteria\, and ritual—while listening to earth being shoveled over you. \nExhibition Buried Alive feat. Black Ferk Studio\nIn addition to an exhibition on Buried Alive\, there will be an exhibition by Matthias Mollner featuring current photographic works from his series on people affected by ME/CFS and complex chronic illnesses. The photos\, which will also be featured in the book Fighters in the Crash Zone to be published in the fall\, will be presented to the public for the first time at the Lindabrunn Symposium. \nBurning Ferk“ Ritual in Lindabrunn\nAs part of the celebrations\, there will be a ritual burning of messages to Judith Schoßböck in the “Burning Ferk” on Sunday\, September 21\, at 4 p.m.\, which were written at “Judy in the Sky” or sent in advance. Everyone is welcome\, and we would be delighted if you could join us for this special moment! Following the ritual\, the “Burning Ferk” will be set up outdoors at a location that is special to Judith Schoßböck. \nSchedule at Symposion Lindabrunn\, Steinbruchstraße 25\, 2551 Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn \nSaturday 20. SUMMARY:In CUBO : Sheri Avraham
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition at Cubo: Sheri Avraham – 70 Faces of the Torah \nIn the age of social media\, we continuously inscribe ourselves through curated feeds\, stories and highlights. These digital traces become a contemporary sacred scroll\, a living archive through which we seek recognition\, belonging and knowledge. Our online selves\, both self-designed and externally imposed\, function as a modern ritual of interpretation and belief. Within this space of multiplicity\, contradiction and intersectionality\, identity unfolds as performance and negotiation. \nThis work is part of the larger project “Mizrachi Futurism” and is a continuation of research that began during Sheri’s production residency at Symposion Lindabrunn in 2025. \n“Mizrachi Futurism” is a speculative aesthetic rooted in the identity category of Mizrachim: Jews with familial ties to non-Western countries. Inspired by Afrofuturism\, it functions as a cultural-political practice that creates insurgent visions of the future based on Mizrachi histories\, diasporic knowledge\, hybridity and anti-colonial critique in art\, theory and performance. From a Mizrachi and queer perspective\, this project reflects on fragmented identity\, visibility and belonging. \n70 Faces of the Torah presents identity as infinitely interpretable. Referring to the midrashic phrase “The Torah has seventy faces”\, the work suggests that identity\, like sacred texts\, is never unambiguous or fixed\, but fluid\, multi-layered and open to infinite interpretation. \n

SUMMARY:Production stay Veronika Mayer + Elisabeth Wildling
DESCRIPTION:Artists:Veronika Mayer\, Elisabeth Wildling \nFrom the lingering \nPerception is an active\, formative process. It selects\, condenses and creates reality. A site-sensitive artistic practice unfolds from everyday life together – in observing\, listening and visualizing – that responds to the situation rather than depicting it. This attitude characterizes the week-long collaboration between two artists in residence and is based on presence\, repetition and lingering. \nMacro shots open our eyes to the imperceptible – to transitions and subtle shifts in light\, sound and materiality. Situationally used materials act as mediating filters that structure traces of light and shadow as well as tonal particles. \nThe resulting installation follows a relational understanding of sensory orientation: as an ongoing process of active awareness\, in which heterogeneous environments\, experience and artistic setting resonate and respond to one another.

SUMMARY:In CUBO : Camille Dedenise
DESCRIPTION:NATURALISM glitch THEATRUM is a site-specific installation conceived for and produced at Lindabrunn. The installation questions naturalism not as nature itself\, but as an epistemological system: a Western fabulation\,\nin Philippe Descola’s terms\, that separated humans from the living world. The theatre is a metaphor of naturalism as a fabulation\, a constructed scene\, in which the apparatus blurs with the landscape. The ecological disaster becomes a broken glitch\, a signal that exists by failing. The work extends through a webpage translating Lindabrunn’s real-time weather data into generative visual forms for the duration of the exhibition. \n

SUMMARY:Relaunch Hörzelle- Midissage Cubo
DESCRIPTION:The time has come; the “Hörzelle” is being refilled!\nAnd the exhibition in the Cubo by Camille Dedenise can still be seen for 2 weeks! \nNew at Hörzelle: \nblablabor (annette schmucki and reto friedmann) \nfm-alarm-clock-radio-g641-t302-j \nEvery radio sounds different: The Grundig Concert Boy 240 impresses with its clear sound\, while the reception of the Stern Dynamic 2030 is harsh and susceptible to interference. Blablabor has built up its own relationship with each of the more than one hundred portable radios it has collected. Like us\, the devices are getting older and frailer – the Philips Limbo DeLuxe 90R1412 is missing the antenna tip and the battery compartment cover. For “FM Alarm Clock Radio G641 T302 J”\, Blablabor used the sounds and characteristics of their radio collection. The play was nominated for the Berlin Radio Play Festival 2025. \nSashe Urdovski: Singing wire\nEarly on\, historical users of the electric telegraph described its lines as “singing wires”: wind\, electrical impulses or resonances created audible tones and rhythms with a musical quality. The telephone booth becomes a listening room for a material\, independently vibrating form of communication. The piece is inspired by Alvin Lucier’s work “Music on a Long Thin Wire”\, in which a signal generates vibrations in a taut wire. The composition was created in the Experimental Soundlab at the University of Art and Design. \nChristina Gruber: Thirsty Datacenter (Lindabrunn Edit)\nOur daily lives are based on interactions. And increasingly online. “Thirsty Datacenter” leads to different production sites and landing points of the cloud. Water is essential in the development process of these global server networks. On the one hand\, water is used to cool the data centers\, but also to transmit our data. What happens when digital water re-enters the water cycle? Are endless streaming evenings also causing real changes to our atmosphere? This audio piece goes in search of the infrastructures of the cloud. \nHollis Taylor\, Claire Edwards: Owen Springs Reserve\nThis piece is based on a nocturnal song recording of the Australian Black-throated Slaughterbird\, recorded in 2014 near Alice Springs. In her work\, composer\, violinist and ornithologist Hollis Taylor explores the musical qualities of birdsongs and their translation into human music. It is played and interpreted here by the well-known Australian percussionist Claire Edwards on the vibraphone. \nMarie Lampropoulus: Zwischen den Gräsern\nMarie Lampropoulus studied Biology on the University Vienna\, Ecology\, with focus on Vegetationecology\, Naturer- and Landscapeprotection She wrote her diploma thesis on the grasshopper population at the Lindabrunn Symposium site and is an excellent expert on this habitat. In this audio piece\, she provides insights into the fascinating world of the polyphonic orchestra of these creatures that can be heard here every day. \n

One could also book a chinese tea-ceremony or simply enjoy some refreshing chinese tea. These include green\, black\, oolong) hot or cold as one could prefer. \n_____ \nOysters are dazzlingly mysterious\, a delicacy for the palate and a microcosm into a world that mirrors our own. As saltwater bivalve molluscs\, they transform pain within their soft bodies into luminous pearls over time. This journey offers a fluid moment to “think-with” the world around us: how might we feel our way through the conditions of our time? Inspired by queer Palestinian poet Rasha Abdulhadi’s Your Oysters\, we invite you to a program that brings together artists in residency joined by scientists\, scholars and thinkers. Set amidst legacies and dialogues of art within the biodiversity of Symposium Lindabrunn\, this gathering activates art through a multispecies perspective. Embracing decolonial and feminist methods\, we immerse ourselves in the natural world and engage with digital tools\, echoing indigenous genealogies to open portals between worlds. Join us at Symposium Lindabrunn for a soft landing of learning\, togetherness and shared reflections. \nCurated by Mekhala Dave\nSupported by Valentina Gruber
